Google Business Profile Best Practices
Because a vast majority of customers are looking for businesses on Google, Google Business Profile (GBP) is the most important online profile for most businesses to maintain. To come up on search results, it's important to have your GBP fully updated.
Make sure to confirm that you have updated:
- Categories and Subcategories - These change over time so be sure to take a look every so often to ensure you have the category that describes your business most accurately.
- Business Website - Websites add legitimacy to your business and help customers decide to work with you. If you manage multiple locations from a single website we suggest linking to the specific location page on your GMB.
- Business Hours - make sure these match your website and are not removed in the future. Here are step-by-step instructions on how to add hours to your listing.
- Service Area - list the individual cities or zip codes that you service instead of a general mile radius. Here are step-by-step instructions for editing your service area.
Please note that Google flags and suspends any Google My Business listings that do not have their Business Hours and Service area listed correctly. Take a look at Google's article for more information on how to improve your local search ranking.
Responding to Google Reviews promptly improves your Local SEO which helps your GMB get to the top of search results. Read more about Responding to Google Reviews directly in the Broadly app.
