Guidelines for Effective Campaigns
- Identify the audience of your campaign - Not all marketing messages should be sent to every past, present, or potential customer - all of these groups of customers have different needs and interests.
- Create Quality Content - To stand out from the emails crowding everyone’s inboxes it’s important to make sure all your outreach truly adds value to your intended audience. This is particularly important with text campaigns since they are going straight to your customers' personal phones.
- Test your campaign - Send your campaign to yourself before sending it to your list of intended customers to double-check for any errors.
- Gather Feedback - Ask your customers if they saw your recent newsletter and see what they thought of it. Or, if you send out a promotion, make sure to take note of how many people are coming in to take advantage of it.
- Give thought to the frequency of your campaigns - It’s important to establish yourself as a business whose communications are relevant and worth your customers' time. Broadly automatically limits contacts to receive no more than 1 campaigns message every 30 days to prevent over-messaging. You can continue to create draft campaigns, but will not be able to send them out until the next month.
Creating a Campaign
- Navigate to the "Campaigns" tab on the main left-hand menu.
- To create a campaign from scratch, select the blue "New Campaign" button. Choose whether you'd like to create an "Email" or "Text" campaign at the top of the right-hand screen.
- If you would prefer to create a campaign from one of our pre-populated templates, select the "Templates" option. Templates come with a suggested Recipient list, Subject (if applicable), and Body. You can still edit/customize these before sending out the campaign.
To encourage high-quality, targeted campaigns, please note when choosing recipients:
- Broadly does not allow Campaigns to be sent to more than 3,000 recipients (text or email) each month. You can continue to create draft campaigns, but it will not send them until the next month.
- There is a limit of 1,500 recipients for email and 500 for text campaigns. This is to avoid triggering spam filters.
- A "Select all" option will be available if your total Broadly contact list is within these limits. Otherwise, the option will not appear.
- To prevent over-messaging anyone, the same recipient cannot receive more than 1 campaign per 30 days. If a contact has received a campaign in the last 30 days, future campaign messages to them will be skipped until the 30-day window passes.
Editing a Campaign
You can make the following edits to your campaign:
- Update the recipients of your campaign. You will be given a few options when you select "Change" to the right of the recipients.
- Manually select recipients from a list of all of your Broadly app contacts.
- Choose from our pre-set suggestions. Pre-set recipient lists can be further customized by selecting and deselecting customers in the left-hand checkboxes.
- A select-all option will be available if there are 1500 or fewer contacts available for email, for text it will limit you to 500 or fewer contacts.
- Edit the subject line. (Not Applicable to Text Campaigns).
- Edit the body of the message within the dotted blue line.
- If you would like to edit the image (for email campaigns only) or the signature, email support@broadly.com.
Please note that the greeting (Hello “Customer Name”) above the body cannot be edited. It is designed to automatically include the first name listed for each of the recipients selected.
Saving & Sending a Campaign
You can save a campaign as a draft by selecting "Save" in the upper left corner. Saved drafts are saved in "Your Activity."
When you are happy with a campaign and ready to send it out:
- Select "Send" in the upper right.
- A pop-up will appear that will allow you to review the number of recipients and confirm the campaign send.
- Once confirmed, your campaign will be scheduled to go out 30 minutes later. Within that window, you can still make changes or stop the campaign from going out.
If this is the first time you’re using Campaigns, we recommend sending yourself a test. When you receive the test campaign, confirm the accuracy of the “From” email and the phone number associated with the “Call us today” button. You can update this information by getting in touch with Broadly Support.
Checking Campaign Activity
In the "Your Activity" area you can review:
- Saved drafts - Here you can make changes or select Discard to delete a campaign draft.
- Scheduled Campaigns - These are the campaigns that have been confirmed to be sent out but are still within the 30-minute delay window. You can select "Save for Later" to prevent a campaign from sending; it will be moved into the Drafts area.
- Sent Campaigns - Here you can review the content for previous campaigns.
Please note that if one of your customers unsubscribes from a campaign, they will not receive any further campaigns from Broadly. They will, however, continue to be eligible to receive review requests and direct messages. Customers can unsubscribe from campaigns by responding “1” to a text campaign or clicking the unsubscribe button in an email campaign.
